Following the recent U21 NHL, Kelt Capital Hockey Academy players Callum Bailey and Bridget Blackwood have been selected in the Junior Black Sticks Men's and Women's squad respectively. |
Both Callum and Bridget have been active participants at the
Academy over the past few years. Callum has been part of the Elite
squad for some time now and has participated in the A and Booster Programmes for a few years. Bridget originally attended a Champs Camp a few years ago but has now over the past year developed a specific individualized coaching programme with the Academy director of Coaching, Greg Nicol.
In addition to being coached by the Academy coaches, both players have also been involved in Coaching for the Academy.
The Hockey Fantasticks Camp held recently featured both Bridget and Callum as Assistant Coaches alongside Academy coaches. The young players who attended this camp benefited massively from being coached by these Junior Black Sticks. The Academy certainly values their time coaching the young players and looks forward to utilizing them at many camps in the future.
Both Junior Black Sticks squads are in the process of preparing for the Junior World Cup in 2009 and this selection presents both players with an opportunity to play on the international stage.
The Academy is very proud of their selection and wishes them all the best with the squad.
