One thing that you can do before the holidays to help your web marketing...

At this time of the year you may be rather busy – avoiding getting “wound up” so you get to enjoy the wind down end of year...

Your web traffic will take a huge leap as people are looking locally for products and services before and during the break.

You need to get found in Google Local Business Center – especially by those people now using Google Maps as an information resource.

Getting a great listing on Google Maps and Google Local Business Center is easy for you to enter and can add lots of click-throughs to your web site.

Not getting found by non-locals means you’ll be losing potential business – many people are now very comfortable using Google Maps on their cell phones or laptops when they are already in a new city – and people are also researching holiday destinations now for their summer break.

Now is the time to ensure that your business will be found...!

Getting more traffic will turn into sales – the easy peasy principal of the “sales funnel” – more visitors into the top of the funnel – then more returns (sales) at the bottom.

Maximising the returns on your web marketing and turning your web site into a profit center rather than a cost center is a great idea...

To get your information into the local Google Maps start here:

We are adding each of our new customers that have a physical address as a place of business – but the first step is to see if your business is already there.

You can claim an existing entry if someone has already added your business – we’ve found a couple of entities have been adding businesses so your business may already be there but looked after by someone else such as a portal or directory web site.

Adding information to your listing can increase the response from having the entry – add a great compelling bio or short company history to the listing, include your logo or photos of your product range or inside pics of your businesses.

Don’t forget to use nice search engine friendly key word content and links to your blog and business web site.

Try and avoid just cutting pasting from your web site – new content using different words will spread the effectiveness of the key words used – but do always include your unique points of difference.

There are also some great reports available – which is justification for spending time doing this – and your Google Analytics Reports will also let you know how many people are clicking on your web page link

Bonus Tool

I’m sure I’ve talked about this tool before – but a recent trip through the Coromandel to meet with businesses under the Biz training Program and speaking to two groups on Social Media Marketing has me thinking you need a reminder of Google Alerts

See www.Google.com/alerts/

Think of this as a web site information clipping service – just like a real world newspaper clipping service looks for your business name in traditional media Google Alerts can look for your business name, staffs names and product or service brands – pretty much as it happens.

Sign in to the above page with your Google Id and set up each Alert using the typical “and” “or” type searches.

When the Google Search Engine Robot (called Googlebot…) finds that phrase on any new web pages that it indexes – it will send you the link to that page.

This is really great for finding blog posts about your business – and other reviews or feedback about your products and services.

If the post is bad news – you get to find it quickly and make it good – and if it’s good you get to thank the person for giving the feedback and also have an opportunity to link to the blog post – much better then a faceless testimonial.

Of course you could also use Google Alerts to monitor what your competitors are doing too…!
