Merry Christmas from the team at ec
This is the last EC Newsletter for the year and so I’ll look back a little over the last year and also let you know what’s going to be happening next year…
Congratulations – you’ve made it to the end of the “naughties” – the last full week for work for most of us before a break.
Hang in there if you are still working in your business over the holiday season (you know who you are…!) – Your break will come later.
It’s been a big tough year for some and we take this time to thank again the 3 customers that have decided to close their doors and close down the web sites that they had with us – all the best for the future.
3 out of 300 isn’t a bad score – and through the year we only lost two other web sites – but still do work on other web sites for one of those clients.
We’ve gained many new customers – welcome – and thanks for your business – please do let us know how we are going and how we can help more.
This year we saw the rise of social media in mainstream business use – many of you now have Facebook accounts for your businesses and a few of you are now using blogs.
This trend will continue for 2010 – please let us know if you’d like more information about using social media for your business.
I’ve done three speaking trips though The Coromandel this year and met some great enthusiastic business owners – if you haven’t been up that way for some time go and visit this summer break – it’s vibrant…!
I’ve also done several speaking gigs in Rotorua which is always a great place to do business and meet business people with an outward looking & thinking bias.
Locally there’s been a few training events and some great catch ups with coffee and chat.
As to new technology – the mobile revolution is being utilised by many of our customers now with various models of smart phone / iphone being used to keep in touch with emails and to post photos or update blogs.
Google keeps releasing some great tools and making small and useful enhancements to others – my favourite pick of all the Google Tools for 2009 is the “Site Overlay” report under “Content” in Google Analytics.
If you haven’t seen that – go look after reading this – it tells you from each page of your web site what links that people clicked on to move to the next page – very illuminating…
We’ve also seen two new Google “glimpses of the future” released in the last month or two – Google Wave and the revolutionary Google Chrome OS.
(Go and Google them to learn more – an exercise for the student…)
Watch these two new tools – they may change your life (or at least change how you communicate and access the web) next year…!
In house – we have added several new components & features to the core toolset with your feedback.
We now have RSS feeds from your News and Events Calendars' and we also have a “Listing Component” which can be used to promote anything from vehicles through to houses on your web site.
Look out in January for a free webinar titled “What Everybody Ought to Know AboutMaking Money Online”
See: - http://www.mondaymorning.biz/webinars/Meet_the_expert_webinar.asp for details and pencil in Wednesday 27th January, 2010 at 9:00am
We’ll also be releasing our new brand and web site in the New Year along with a new domain name ec2.co.nz
The old domain names will continue working but using this new one is a statement of intent – we’ve changed what we do and how we do it…
More on this next year…!
So please have a Merry but safe Christmas and a profitable 2010…
And thanks for being our customer…
