The power of linking – Build Trust and Traffic…!

We covered recently about ways to build trust with your web site – and I release I missed a key method of building trust – having recognisable brands on your web site – that link through to your suppliers.

I was also recently in the Hauraki District delivering BIZ courses on “Maximising your Marketing Using the Web” and we talked quite a bit about issues surrounding having links to and from a web site.

Owning a web site is all about maximising the results – or the outputs of the web site – if a web site is not working then the sunk cost can never be leveraged – it’s sunk and gone and the ongoing hosting charges are also going into a black hole.

Having your web site act like an ATM on the other hand is great – regular web traffic which turns into good steady sales leads – which leads to you gaining nice happy people as customers – that’s what the web is great for.

Links from your web site could be to suppliers such as known brands which help instil “trust” that you deal with reputable brands.

These could be the raw material suppliers that provide you with the ingredients for your product or service offering or could be as simple as displaying the Visa & MasterCard logo so that people can see you process credit cards.

Leveraging the brand “value” of those offsite links will build the trust that you receive from your web visitors and can also help in the Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) of your web site.

People searching for the brand name – and in your local region should find you reasonably easily if the SEO has been undertaken well – will add to the number of visits that you receive to your web site.

Reciprocal links should be encouraged at every step – if you place a link to someone else’s web site on your web site it’s reasonable to expect a link back – as long as there is relative comparable “value” in the two web sites.

Where links may be paid for is when a situation happens where one web site may have significantly more traffic then the other – in that case the smaller trafficked web site may pay the larger trafficked web site for the link.

Be cautious of the many portal web sites that are around that offer to list your web site for a fee – many of these are also struggling to get web visitors to their sites and the click-throughs to your web site may not be worth the money they are asking.

In cases like this ask them for a free trial period – and measure the responses through your web statistics package and then make a call on paying to join.

With Google Analytics (see http://www.google.comanalytics/) you can also create a report and get that emailed to you every day or week or month – so very quick and easy to keep on top of where traffic in coming from.

You can also use the Google Page Rank (GPR) which is available to view on the Google tool bar to see what Google thinks of web page “worthiness” – always try to get links from high GPR pages rather than low ones.

Keep viewing your web site statistics for new people that could be linking to you – and those existing ones that are giving you significant traffic – these people are your friends…!

Here are a few ideas how you could use Webinars:

A wedding caterer could use them for prospective customer once per week to run through their full service list with example photos of layouts and options for that special day.

A bed and breakfast operator could host a Webinar with a walk though of the rooms available as well as some ideas of local sights and places to visit.

A professional services consultant could use the Webinar to give some tips and hints about improving their customer's bottom line.

If a new client visited your web site they could register online for the upcoming Webinar easily and quickly.

If a potential new client contacts you during the week then let them know the Webinar will be available - it's a great way of getting engagement in an interactive way.

We want to know what you are finding hard to do using the toolset - and we'll step you through how to do it the best most time effective way.

We'll also be taking notes about what you are asking - and will look to improve the process - if there's a better way of achieving the end results - lets all work towards it...!

So do please make the time - we'll try and have these free webinars every two weeks (except where I end up having travel commitments - but I'll be training up the guys to take my place) - and we'll also look at having one after hours every so often - so let us know if you are keen - but can't make it to the 9:30 am webinars.
