Childbirth Education
Congratulations! You are about to embark on a whole new chapter of your life.
Taupo Parents Centre offers free comprehensive childbirth education courses to help you and your partner prepare for having a baby. We offer approximately 12 courses a year in Taupo and 6 courses in Turangi
We offer an evening course in Taupo (7 weeks) or a weekend course in Turangi (2 days). These classes provide information about pregnancy, birth and early parenting to enable expectant parents to make informed choices and decisions.
Our classes are led by qualified Childbirth Educators. Each course is limited to twelve couples so early booking is recommended. In conjunction with you, the CBE co-ordinator will determine the correct class for you depending on your due date and space available on the course.
The childbirth education course covers:

labour signs and stages

pain relief options and interventions

the birth process and birth video

informed decision making on vitamin K and immunisations

breastfeeding and newborn care

postnatal depression
