WOW! What an busy and exciting start to 2011. There is so much going on at Taupo Parents Centre AND then there is our own President TracyLee Hooton in Masterchef! We are very excited to see how she goes. This year at TPC Committee are going to be focusing on undertaking projects which we obtained funding for in 2010 from Cruising for a Cause, Hukafalls Jet Locals Day and Craters for the Moon Charitable Trust, together with running our usual raft of parenting courses for you. By the way, dont you love the new path and ramp at the rooms - thanks to Chad and TracyLee Hooton for all their hard work on this.
Turangi Baby & You!!! NEW COURSE!!
This course will run on Fridays from May 6 to June 10, at Turangi Fire Station Rooms. This course is a pilot as it is the first time it is being run in Turangi. As such it is free for all attendees for this first course. Maternity Service and Unit Consultation

In 2010 Lakes District Health Board began a project to ensure a safe, sustainable and effective integrated primary maternity service exists for women living in the Taupo, Turangi and Mangakino areas.
Maternity services at Taupo Hospital have sometimes struggled in recent years due to staff shortages and problems with recruitment and retention of midwifery staff. When a private group tabled a proposal for the establishment of a private midwifery service and facility for the Taupo maternity facility in March 2010, the decision was made to launch the Taupo Primary Maternity Service and Facilities Project.
Members of the public are invited to the following meetings to hear progress on the project and the likely recommended option.
